Revelations

It's not easy to get over the end of a friendship, without the bicolor among them, Izuku’s friends already felt like something was missing and, in a way, the greenette felt responsible for his departure.

“None of that is your fault, Izuku!” Uraraka scolded as she finished a sip of her milkshake. “Actually, neither is Todoroki's… it’s not something we can control.”

“But I still feel as if it was…! If I hadn't met Kacchan and his friends, maybe Todoroki would've never seen Yaoyorozu again…” Izuku lamented, balling his fists on his lap.

Uraraka shook her head and leaned on the diner table. “You blame yourself too much over things that are out of your control.”

“That's true, Midoriya.” Iida chopped the air towards him. “Meeting Bakugou might not have been all that good, but look where you are now thanks to that; Todoroki seeing a non-gotten over crush again was just an unfortunate coincidence.”

Izuku fell silent and grit his teeth.

“You don't have to worry!” Uraraka said with a sip of her drink. “We'll get over it; it may not be easy now, we just need time. None of us want to forget Todoroki, but the end of relationships is part of life.”

“Thank you…” Izuku said shyly. “You're right.”

Uraraka nodded. “Don't beat yourself up over that, okay?”

The greenette nodded, but he knew how hard it'd be for him.

Days have become weeks and, although Yaoyorozu and Jirou overcame the past events with Todoroki, Izuku kept beating himself up over it, the bicolor was his friend after all.

His worries were showing, and Katsuki had to make an effort to keep him company and never let anything miss in the attempt of trying to make the greenette forget that, be it a shoulder to cry on or gifting him with a meal, making sure to be always by his side to keep his mind busy with other things, with it, he strengthened his bonds with the freckled one and the one himself started to realize something.

The couple was laying in Katsuki's bed after making love, holding each other and tired after the whole “workout” and ready to sleep, but Izuku had his mind elsewhere.

His anxious mind remembered the day of the Shimuras’ wedding and how Kacchan had said he'd be capable of crossing the ocean and starting anew just so that they could get married, he also had been thinking of everything the blonde has done for him since they started dating; he wondered if he was going too fast, but the signals were clear.

“Kacchan… are you awake?”

“Hm?” The blonde one mumbled in reply.

“You know, I… wanted to talk to you about something.” He mentioned shyly.

Katsuki turned to him and opened his eyes difficultly. “Can't you wait until tomorrow?” He said groggily.

“No, this can't wait anymore.”

Noticing it was something serious, the Incubus laid on his side and gave his boyfriend full attention.

“What is it, Izu?” He asked worriedly.

“You know, I… was just thinking… do you remember what you said at mister Shimura's wedding?”

“About what?”

“About… being able to move to another country to marry me?”

Katsuki widened his eyes and smiled softly. “Of course… I'm able to do anything for you… why? Do you want-?”

“No.” The greenette cut off. “I don't think it's really necessary, as long as we stay together.”

“Well… what do you mean, then?”

Izuku took a deep breath, gathered up the courage and finally opened his mouth. “What do you think of living together?”

“Living together?” The cupid smiled.

“Yeah…” Izuku confirmed shyly.

Katsuki was ecstatic, he'd been thinking of that for some time, only didn't he know how to ask. He was about to agree to it when something came to him and his smile fell. “Oh… well, erm…”

“You don't want to?”

The cupid eyed the disappointed eyes of his boyfriend in pain.

“Of course I do.” He said in all honesty.

“So what's the matter?”

Katsuki sighed inaudibly. “Remember that secret I told you about…? I promised to tell you.”

Izuku nodded.

“Well… I guess this is the time.” The cupid announced.

The small one wanted to trust his boyfriend, but he seemed to be hesitant, there was something wrong.

“Kacchan… what do you want to tell me?” He asked worriedly.

The Incubus shook his head. “It's not what you're thinking, is just the way I was born, that isn't something we can change…”

“Huh…?”

Katsuki took a deep breath with his heart racing in his chest. “Look, I just want you to know… it doesn't matter what I am, I really do love you, okay? Nothing will change that, just… please, don't freak out.” He squeezed his eyes shut in pain.

Despite what he just said, Izuku was already scared by where that was going; he had no idea of what could be the secret he's been keeping and the freckled one felt confused with what Kacchan was trying to say.

The greenette tried to reach for his boyfriend when he moved to stand, but Katsuki simply walked towards the light switch and flicked it on.

“What are you doing?” Izuku asked cautiously.

“I need to show you something.”

The freckled one furrowed his brows and watched as the shape of the one he knows as Kacchan shifted into a monstrous being with wings, horns and a tail; he expected for a smell of sulfur to fill the room, instead, he felt an aphrodisiac scent that seemed to turn him on, but he was too frightened to think about that.

The Incubus on his end eyed the floor embarrassed, he didn’t have the courage to look up and find out Izuku’s reaction; when he did, he saw his freckled face contorted in terror and shut his eyes in pain.

“Don’t freak out…” He repeated in a whisper.

The words didn’t make it to the greenette’s mouth; he thought of running away, but that demonic form was right beside the door, he then tried to control his heavy breathing and speak up.

“Wha-? Who are you?” He asked shakily.

“I’m Katsuki…” The Incubus said matter-of-factly. “Kacchan, remember?”

“W-what are you?” He asked again, pulling the covers closer to himself.

“This is the truth, Izuku… I’m a demon… A sex demon, to be more specific.”

The small one gasped, he heard of that type of demon before and, if he recalled it correctly, they feed on humans’ vital energies through…

“Ka- Bakugou…” The name spoken caught Katsuki off-guard. “You… By any chance… all this time, you-?”

“I know what you’re thinking, but it’s not like that!” The Incubus cut him off immediately. “We have a special connection…”

“What do you mean?”

Katsuki wetted his lips with his split tongue. “It’s a long story, but allow me to explain.”

The cupid sat on the edge of the bed carefully not to scare the small one even more and told him the tale he always heard from his mother at night, he also explained the fact of being a cupid and how he found out that Izuku is his soulmate. The greenette listened to everything in silence until he finished.

“Wait, let me get this straight… you’re a demon… but still are the cupid?”

“Humans distort that information, cupids have never been angels.” Katsuki shrugged.

Izuku paused to digest that information before asking the next question. “And I am… your soulmate?”

“Apparently, yes.”

“Right, but… besides that, how can I know you weren’t using me to drain my vital energy?”

“Because of our bond we don’t have to worry about that; since you’re my soulmate, we can still have sex and it won’t harm you.”

Izuku sighed with a hand on his forehead.

“I suppose that’s a lot of information to take in…” Katsuki mentioned.

“Yeah… just… why are you telling me this now?”

“Since you asked for us to live together, I figured it would be fair, besides, I can’t keep my human shape for long because it drains my vital energy, you would find it out sooner or later…”

“Oh…” Was all the greenette managed to say.

“I hope the offer is still up…”

Izuku eyed him remorsefully. “It is… but I need time to take in, well… all this.” He pointed at Katsuki.

“I understand…”

His emerald eyes looked down at the mattress below; Izuku wouldn’t lie, he was starting to feel kind of bad for him, it wasn’t his fault to be born like that after all.

“Hey, Kacchan… wanna come back to bed? I have more questions.”

Katsuki widened his eyes towards him and complied, turning off the light and shifting back into his human shape to lay down beside him.

“What do you want to ask?”

“Well… from what I got, you’re immortal, right?”

“Semi-immortal, actually. Our lifespan decreases as generations go by due to the human genes; we speculate it may decrease until reaching the humans’ lifespan.”

“I see… and… how old are you now?”

“In human years, around seventy.”

“Oh… so, you must’ve had other soulmates, right?”

“Actually, you’re the first one.”

Izuku widened his eyes at the information as relief filled his chest. “Good.”

“You don’t have to worry about that, Izu, you’ll always be my soulmate.”

“What do you mean…? Will you turn me immortal?”

“No, that’s not allowed, especially since you’re a man and I need children to pass along the task of cupid.”

“Huh…? Hang on, I don’t understand. Does that mean that the cycle ends here?”

“No, we’ll have other opportunities.”

“Wait, wait, wait!” Izuku sat up in bed and shook his hands in confusion. “That’s biologically impossible! Unless you can get me pregnant through some supernatural way, but we’d have to hide-”

“You talk too much, sometimes.” Katsuki held his freckled cheeks to silence him.

“Sorry… could you explain it to me, then?”

“Do you believe in reincarnation?”

“Hm… I never had an opinion on the matter.”

“That’s the answer. We can’t have our children now because you’re a man, but we’ll have the chance when you’re born a woman.”

“‘Children’?” Izuku asked curiously.

Katsuki nodded. “I want more than one, but that doesn’t matter now. I’ve always been against the idea of having a soulmate because no couple I united worked out, so I stopped believing in love, but you changed my opinion on the matter and, now that I tasted your love, I won’t stop searching for you throughout each incarnation.” He said, caressing his green locks behind his ear.

“Kacchan…” Izuku spoke and let him lean in for a kiss. “I love you too.”

“Let’s lay down, it’s getting late.” Katsuki pulled him to lay by his side, hugging him in the process.

Even though he was still wary after that “revelation”, Izuku gave himself into the gesture, Kacchan was still Kacchan, after all.

In the next morning, the greenette felt strong hands shaking him awake, and the deep voice of his lover called to him. “Izu…? Izuuu.”

His lids fluttered open, revealing the pair of emerald eyes; Izuku turned in bed and glanced at the scarlet orbs staring at him intensely.

“Kacchan…? What is it?” He asked groggily, rubbing the sleep off his eyes.

“I’m sorry for waking you up so early, but I made breakfast and we still have much to talk before I leave for work.”

The freckled one eyed him confusedly until memories of the past night flooded back; so it wasn’t a dream.

“Can I take a shower first?” The small one asked.

“Okay, but make it quick.”

Katsuki left as Izuku went to the bathroom, soon after, he found the blonde waiting on the breakfast table. Izuku approached slowly and sat in front of him cautiously.

“So… last night.” Katsuki mentioned, embarrassed.

“Yeah…”

“I know all of this may be very surreal to you… but I must say that other people around you are… well… like me.”

Izuku stared baffled at him. “What…?”

“I don't mean to overwhelm you with this information, but my friends are also Succubi… and so is Shouto.”

The greenette widened his eyes at the information.

“The main reason for him to have left was because he fell in love with Yaoyorozu and couldn't be with her, for it would mean he'd have to watch her wither to death…” The cupid continued. “He was just trying to spare her and, of course, he couldn't get over her.”

“Why are you telling me this?”

“I didn't want you to hate him for not knowing the true reason.”

Izuku fell in a moment of silence. “Thank you, Kacchan, but I never hated Todoroki.”

“Of course… I just wanted to make sure.”

The small one didn't reply, he just began to eat and they had breakfast in silence; he didn't want to take it out on Kacchan, it wasn't his fault for keeping a secret, he was right even, but there were so many things to take in at once that the greenette felt overwhelmed.

After the meal, Izuku helped with dishes as usual.

“Hey, uhm… want me to drive you home before work?” Bakugou suggested as they finished.

“No, I'll just take the subway.” Izuku answered slowly.

“You sure? I can-”

“Kacchan, many things happened all of a sudden and I need some time alone to think!” The short one exclaimed.

“Of course… I understand.”

The Incubus caressed his green locks with the impulse of kissing him goodbye, but he decided against it and cleaned his throat, letting go of the greenette's hair. “I… have to go, now… You can call me, when you make up your mind.”

“Sure.”

They left the apartment in silence, no kiss of goodbye, no other exchange of words, they barely even looked at each other, they just headed out the elevator and parted ways.

Katsuki’s work shift dragged by almost like torture, he looked beaten after the talk with Izuku and it showed, his friend obviously noticed it immediately and finally gathered up the courage to mention it.

“Hey, Katsuki… can you tell me what’s bothering you?” Kirishima asked after handing him a few documents at is office.

“It’s no big deal.” The cupid sighed.

“Come on…” The redhead insisted.

Of course something was wrong and Eijirou noticed it, he knew Katsuki his whole life.

“Izuku asked me to live together.”

The redhead eyed him curiously. “And…? That’s good, isn't it?”

“Maybe, but that’s why I had to tell him the truth.” He added with a hand on his forehead.

Kirishima stared at him in shock. “Oh, Katsuki…”

“I know what you’re thinking, but there was no other way.”

“I know… I get it.”

“I don’t know what else to do, Ei… I didn’t make it this far over nothing.”

“Be calm, you still don’t know how Midoriya will handle it, he’s very understanding after all.”

“I hope you’re right, this time.”

“Yeah, just don’t expect the worse out of it, okay?”

With a comforting look at his direction, Kirishima left in silence.

At company Reborn, Izuku himself was lost in thought in the middle of a bathroom break; he understood Kacchan’s situation, despite he didn’t know how to feel about living beside someone he didn’t actually know in the end.

He sighed out in frustration and flushed the urinal, spotting Shimura as he turned on his heels.

“Oh, hello, Midoriya! I didn’t know you were here.” His boss smiled politely.

“Oh, hi, mister Shimura…” He said slowly as he went to wash his hands.

Tenko quirked a brow at him. “Your mind seems out of place today.” He said as he headed to the urinal.

“I don’t want to bother.”

“Come on, you can trust me.”

Izuku turned off the faucet and paused. “It’s… Katsuki.”

“You two had a fight?” Tenko asked worriedly.

“No… is just that… maybe he’s not like who I thought he was.” He confessed, reaching for a towel.

“What do you mean?”

“Have you ever lived with someone that’s completely different from what you imagined?”

“Oh, I get it…” Tenko flushed down the urinal and approached to wash his hands. “So he told you.”

Izuku froze. “What are you talking about, sir?”

“His true identity. He’s like Himiko, right?”

The greenette gasped. “Do you mean that To- missus Shimura also is… a Succubus?” He whispered that last part.

Tenko chuckled and turned off the faucet. “So he did tell you.”

Izuku paused to let that sink in as Tenko wiped his hands on a towel.

“And…how did you deal with that?”

“When I learned about their existence at first, I must confess it wasn’t easy… my story with that species is longer than it may seem. You know, my older sister, Hana, is a soulmate too.”

“Really?”

“Yeah… when I found that out, I couldn’t accept her union with an Incubus, especially when I found out that their children would have to live in Hell and their firstborn would be trained to carry on with their father’s task.”

Izuku widened his eyes. “Excuse me?” He asked in shock.

“Oh… he didn’t tell you about that part? Well, there really are a lot of things to understand.”

“And… well, how did you accept that?”

“It was hard, as you can figure. To this day, I don’t see my sister anymore, even though I learned to accept it, especially given the fact that I am a soulmate myself; I guess you understand it only from self experience.”

“And how do you know about Kacchan?” He asked slowly.

Tenko smiled suggestively. “It isn’t the most pleasant story… Bakugou tried to flirt with my sister once, that was when her husband found out he was an Incubus and tried to attack him… We obviously had a rocky relationship at first due to his nature but, as we came to know more about each other, I noticed that, deep down, they’re not too different from us.”

Izuku lowered his head, lost in thought.

“You don’t need to worry so much, Midoriya, it’s not his fault to be born that way.” Tenko reasoned.

“I know…”

“It’s good you do, I hope you settle things out with ‘Kacchan’.” He provoked.

“Er- well…! Thank you, sir.”

“No problem, I know it’s hard. Now let’s go back before they miss us.”

They both left towards their work spaces; Shimura was right and Izuku understood everything he said, there really was no one to blame.
