Disagreements
Midoriya has grown immensely averse to dance clubs; the sweaty bodies dancing drunkily to the beat of the loud music wasn't his kind of place, especially after all he went through on the last time he stepped into that specific club but, if everything went according to plan, he had to go through that to put an end to his burdens.
The greenette dragged his feet towards the line, never in his life he wanted to be sleeping at home so bad. Just as he placed himself in the last spot, he heard someone calling at the front.
“Midoriya!” Kirishima cheerfully waved at him, accompanied by all his friends. Izuku smiled maliciously when he saw Bakugou with them, clearly bothered.
The group went up to him on Kirishima’s lead, who tried to convince the tall blonde to join them, but Bakugou stood right where he was; they approached the greenette and exchanged a few words with him before forgetting about his presence, but it didn't matter anymore, for that night he'd put an end to everything.
Just as they made it to the entrance, the bouncer gave access to all of them… except Midoriya.
“Documents, please.” The tall, blonde man asked sternly.
Izuku sighed, fetching his wallet from his back pocket, but Kirishima reappeared at the door before the freckled one could hand in his ID.
“Is okay, Jin, he's with us.”
“Really…?” The bouncer scanned Izuku from head to toe before turning back to the redhead. “There’s still a chance to lose him.”
“Come on, Midoriya.” Kirishima stretched his hand out to Izuku, who excused himself as he took it and followed the redhead into the club.
They rejoined the group of friends and sat down on a table; Kirishima and Sero offered to bring everyone's drinks, then memorized all the orders before heading to the bar. The redhead offered to pay for Midoriya’s Sprite as he promised, even though the greenette didn't plan on staying to drink, he had more important things in mind.
The remaining ones talked amongst themselves, forgetting about the greenette’s presence completely, who impatiently waited for the return of the other two; when they were back, Kirishima seemed to be nervous, but no one mentioned it as they both handed out the drinks to everyone on the table.
“Hey, Midoriya…” Kirishima called just loud enough to be heard over the music in the club. “Stay close to me for now, will ya?”
“Alright.” He answered apathetically with a sip of his soda.
It wasn't long before the group forgot about his presence yet again, that was when Izuku stood up sneakily.
“Mi-Midoriya?” Kirishima called worried, a bit too late, the greenette was up and heading towards the bar where Bakugou flirted with a black-haired woman.
“What a surprise seeing you here.” Izuku called the blonde one's attention over the loud music, his tone of voice and sarcastic smile gave out that he wasn't surprised in the slightest.
Bakugou looked like a child caught in the act, despite not showing the tiniest bit of regret. The cupid took the chance of the fact that he wasn't yet feeling the effects of the curse and opened his mouth to speak.
“Nobody invited you into this talk, Deku!” His hookup giggled at the “kind” pet name.
Izuku sighed impatiently. “I need no one to invite me… this time I’ll talk and you will listen, Katsuki.”
The blonde one looked offended by the threat as much as from being referred to in such an intimate way. He stood up and guided his hookup out of there.
“Let’s search for a more pleasant place, darling.”
“‘Darling’? That’s how you treat anyone you wanna take to bed, right?” Izuku laughed, making Bakugou turn back to him, irritated.
“What the fuck do you want?!”
The greenette shook his head. “You really won’t remember, will you…?” He said in monotone. “Seeing me here again wearing the same clothes as in that damn night says nothing to you?”
“What are you implying?!”
“I was a virgin before I met you.”
That comment finally managed to get under Bakugou’s skin, whose date walked away, completely losing interest; that was the last drop for him.
“So that’s it…? This whole tantrum is only because I don’t remember that you let me fuck you?” He laughed sarcastically.
“Not only because of that.” Izuku defied.
“Look, I suggest you watch that mouth. Don’t forget that I’m still your superior and I still can-!”
“If you’re threatening to fire me, you’re a bit late. I quit.” He said firmly.
Those words put an end to any sort of relationship between them; soon, Bakugou’s ears hummed with the crying voices and his heart was engulfed by an unbearable pain. He bent his body with a hand on his chest trying to control it, but it was no use; Izuku just sighed impatiently, faking not to care as he left the place with uncertain steps, taking one last glance behind and, finally, leaving to never go back.
“Katsuki!” Kirishima got there a bit too late, his friend was already agonizing on the floor and his soulmate was leaving through the front door. At that moment, the redhead could only think of going after him. “Hey, Midoriya, wait! Midoriya-!” He called in vain, Izuku left and wouldn’t let himself be persuaded.
At that moment, Kirishima noticed it was just a matter of time for Katsuki, he then went back to aid his friend while he still could.
Once back at his apartment, Bakugou had to be dragged into his room by Eijirou as he stumbled on his feet with the panic attack. The redhead laid the blonde in bed and watched him with pain in his eyes; now that he was abandoned by his soulmate, they had to bring Midoriya back before Katsuki succumbed to the curse.
“W-will you be okay, Katsubro?” He asked innocently.
“What a stupid question.” Katsuki mumbled in between his heavy breathing.
Eijirou sighed inaudibly. “I just want to help you.”
Katsuki tried to control his crying fit in vain. “I don’t know, okay?! Now that he’s gone, I… I should’ve listened to you from the start…”
Eijirou wanted to agree to it, but he knew that it wasn’t the right time for it.
“Ei…” Katsuki called.
“What?”
“He said… he knew me… He said I took his virginity. I didn’t remember anything, but now… I remember…”
“You still have your reasons, Katsuki…” Eijirou scolded. “I can agree that the way you always treated Midoriya was far from acceptable and what you did to him may be unforgivable, but I must say I understand your point of view… but, if there’s a thread of hope, I prefer to hold onto it.”
Katsuki laughed sarcastically. “This is no time to believe in fairy tales.”
“If it’s a fairy tale, then we better start believing.” Eijirou spoke softly as he sat on the edge of the king-sized bed. “I still worry about you, Katsuki, you’re my best friend after all… I don’t care about the circumstances or what you and Midoriya went through, I promise to help, you hear? And don’t forget that we ourselves are also fairy tales for humans.”
Katsuki could hear the smile in his voice from where he laid with his back turned to his friend. The blonde one didn’t want to believe that silly stuff, he knew his time had run out, but maybe a part of him still wanted to believe in that thread of hope, be it for his own well-being or whatever.
He said nothing more for he knew that, even if he was to forbid it, Eijirou will do as he pleases, especially given his friend’s current state which would keep Katsuki stuck to bed until they find a solution or until he succumbs to the suffering brought by the curse, whichever comes first, but Katsuki couldn’t deny it that, now that the countdown has begun, trusting his friend is what he wanted the most.
Getting the subliminal message, Eijirou stood up with one thing in mind: finding Midoriya.
“I’ll come to check in on you later.” The redhead said kindly. “I’ll talk to the guys tomorrow; just try to rest, okay?”
“When did you become my nanny?” Katsuki complained, but Eijirou paid no mind, he just left the room in silence.
Now torn about what he should do, the redhead resulted in spending the night on Katsuki’s couch; now that the blonde was found in a weakened state, the one thing in Eijirou’s mind was that he should care after him. The redhead woke up several times along the night with his friend’s loud crying fits, but all he knew was that he should be there for Katsuki.
Early in the morning, moved by his worries, Eijirou gave up on staring at the living room’s ceiling and finally got up. If he got 3 hours’ sleep it would have been much, but he plain knew that, from that moment on, he and his friends would have to act for Katsuki if they wanted to keep him by their sides, for the blonde was in a situation in which he couldn’t help himself even if he wanted to.
The first thing Kirishima did was peek into the bedroom where his crying friend laid in bed.
“I didn’t ask you to take care of me.” Katsuki complained with a shaky voice.
“But I will, whether you want it or not. You know the consequences and I won’t sit and wait for my friend to wither.”
Katsuki paused; his crying fit now settled into sobbing, but it was still a matter of time for him to have another breakdown.
“I never told you, did I…? But thank you for doing this for me, Ei.”
Eijirou sighed inaudibly and approached. “I’ll talk to the guys… we need to find Midoriya. Someone also needs to look after you, in the meantime.”
Katsuki wanted to retort, he wanted to say that he didn’t need his soulmate, that that was just a waste of time, that Deku would never forgive him, however, now that he was close to his limit, all he could do was agree to it in silence. He still didn’t trust any human being but, more than anything, at that moment, he just wanted to save himself.
Getting the subliminal message, Eijirou pulled out his phone to contact his friends and saw countless messages and missed calls from them on the screen. The redhead simply sighed and sent the same message to all of them.
I’m with Katsuki.
Minutes later, he heard chatter from the living room and headed back there to meet the group all gathered already with countless questions in their eyes.
“How is he?” Mina was the first to speak.
“Alive, but that’s not why I called you here.” Eijirou replied.
“I know, right…? We need to find Midoriya.” Kyouka said.
“Exactly.” The redhead confirmed.
“Where do we start?” Denki asked worriedly.
“Let’s split and look around town, he must’ve not gone too far.” Eijirou explained. “Someone will have to stay with Katsuki while the others search, I suggest we take different turns for that.”
“But, Ei, Katsuki only lets you get close to him when he’s under the effects of the curse, wouldn’t it be best if you stay with him, then?” Mina commented.
“This is no time to attend to his demands. Do you wanna do what he wants or what he needs? I know where I can find a few of Midoriya’s friends, my participation will be important in this search.” Eijirou said in all seriousness, his friends agreed silently. “I’ll text you the addresses of the places I know he goes to; Denki, can you stay here for today? I need to check the diner where Midoriya’s friend works.”
“Sure…” The blonde said unwillingly.
“Let’s not lose much time.” Eijirou said at last and all his friends teleported out of there alongside him, leaving a very concerned Denki behind.
Once out on the streets, the Succubi split and began to search; Eijirou went up to the coffee shop Midoriya’s friend works at, the very same the greenette had breakfast every morning before work. He anxiously entered the establishment and scanned the surroundings in search of that familiar green dot, but no sign of him; he then tried another approach.
“Excuse me… where can I find Ochako Uraraka?” He asked one of the waitresses who pointed at the balcony where a young woman with a brown, bob cut worked. “Thank you.”
He went straight up to the counter and sat on one of the stools.
“Excuse me…” He called the lady’s attention. “Good morning! Ochako Uraraka, right?”
“Flesh and bones.” She joked.
“Look… I need to talk-”
“Sorry, I can’t talk with customers.” She cut him off.
Kirishima sighed anxiously. “In that case, I want a coffee and a sandwich.”
The brunette eyed him curiously and started to prepare the order.
“If you have something to tell me, I suggest you do it before I finish waitering you.” She warned.
“Oh- right!” The redhead paused briefly to select his words before opening his mouth. “Listen… you’re pretty close to Midoriya, aren’t you?”
Uraraka sighed. “I knew it… you’re Bakugou’s friend, aren't you?”
Kirishima was startled by that. “Look, I know Bakugou did Midoriya wrong, but-”
“‘Did him wrong’ is not even close.” The young woman laughed indignantly. “If that’s what you’re here for, I should tell you that you're wasting your time; Izuku told me not to say anything and I don’t even want to… Enjoy your coffee.” She said at last, pushing the meal to him.
Eijirou sighed in defeat as Uraraka backed away to waiter a table; for the looks of it, they wouldn’t get anything from Midoriya’s friends.
He wouldn’t waste time, placing the amount for the breakfast with a generous tip on the counter, he stood towards the exit, contacting his friends to find out that none of them had any luck either, that was when he got a call from Denki.
“‘Sup, Den.” Kirishima answered in monotone.
“Ei, you need to come back here.” The blonde one sounded anxious.
“What happened?” The redhead asked, worried by his friend’s tone of voice.
“Katsuki said he remembered something… I think it could help to find Midoriya!”
Eijirou waited no longer, he turned off his phone at the same time and headed over a remote area so that he could teleport back to Katsuki’s apartment without being seen; he ran up to the bedroom where his friend rested and went straight up to Denki, who anxiously fidgeted with his hands beside the bed.
“I came as fast as I could, what did you find out?” Eijirou asked.
“Katsuki may have remembered Midoriya’s address.” Denki said to his surprise.
“You talk like I’m not even here.” The cupid grumbled from the bed.
“What’s the address, Katsuki?” Eijirou asked straight away.
“Kiyomatsu street… I don’t think I got the exact location. It was a white house at a corner of the street with a well-kept garden.”
“That’s already something. I’ll go see what I can find and then come back to keep you updated.” Eijirou didn’t wait for a reply, teleporting himself to the surroundings of the indicated address and looking for said house, finding what looked the closest to the description given by Katsuki.
He rang the doorbell a few times to get no answer, then peeked into the windows to see a dark house with no sign of movement whatsoever.
“Are you looking for Midoriya, youngster?” An old lady watering her bushes by the side asked.
Kirishima nodded. “I need his help. Do you know where he is?” He asked anxiously.
“Oh… I think he moved out.”
The redhead eyed her with his mouth agape, that couldn’t be happening. “What do you mean…?” He asked slowly.
“I saw a moving truck a few days ago, but it’s weird that the house is not for sale… He must be back after some time.”
Eijirou lowered his gaze, thinking fast; “after some time” will be when Katsuki’s already dead, he needed to find Midoriya way before that.
“Thank you.” He told the old lady before leaving.
Now they were at a dead-end.
- - -
“He moved…?” Kyouka repeated what she just heard.
Eijirou nodded slowly. “His friend won’t say anything either… it’s like Midoriya vanished from the map.”
“The newspaper seller hasn't heard about him either… he said Midoriya didn’t pass by his stand today, I guess he won’t be back so soon.” Hanta lamented.
“What are we gonna do now…?” Mina said in a pained tone.
“What if we follow Midoriya’s friends?” Denki suggested.
The group eyed him surprised.
“What did you say, Den?” Eijirou asked with his mouth agape.
The blonde shrugged. “Well… we’re Succubi after all, we could turn invisible and follow Midoriya’s friends. He must still hang out with them, I guess… uh…” Denki trailed off on his speech with all eyes on him. “It’s a stupid idea, isn’t it…?”
“You know what…? That’s actually pretty genius!” Eijirou congratulated him.
“Really?” Denki said surprised.
“I unfortunately only know where Uraraka works, but that’s something. I’ll text you the coffee shop’s address, she must still be on her shift. You can split up in case she meets some other people on the way and follow them, I’ll stay here with Katsuki.” They all agreed to the plan and wasted no time, standing up as Eijirou texted them the address and teleported to the indicated location; the remaining one couldn’t hold back a smile as his friends vanished in thin air, he was now more confident on the plan to succeed.
